Adding Clutch and Deck Organiser
« on: July 16 2022, 15:01 »
I’m adding a Rutcherson Clutch and Deck Organiser.
The DO will be mounted on top of the existing. Boat is in Greece but I’m in uk & I forgot to photograph existing installation, so I just want to check fixings.
The DO is 30mm deep so I think M8 x 80- are the original fixings Hex Head or Pan/ Button Head?
For the Clutch base I think M6 x 30 countersunk. Any tips on Tapping the new thread for the Clutch?

The deck organizer will most likely use pan head screws.  I replaced my Rutgerson DO with a Harken six sheave DO.  The clutch should be positioned over one of the raised sections of the cabin top that contains an aluminum plate.  I mark both holes and use the appropriate drill bit for the fasteners you're using.  I usually drill and tap the first hole, then insert the fastener to hold the clutch down while marking the second hole.  That way I get a more accurate spacing of the fasteners.  Use an anti-seize compound on the threads.  A future owner will thank you for it.
