I need to replace the cooling unit in my boat.
The fridge has a volume of 170 liters (50 x 50 x 70 cm).
After reading some posts here in the forum I decided to go with a Dometic CU 94 combined with an VD14N.
I’ve been waiting for the compressor for five months now. Every time it’s due for a delivery the date will be pushed out by another four weeks. I checked other shops and although they advertise the unit the reality is that they cannot deliver.
This is why I started checking whether the 84 would be an alternative. Unlike the 94 which is designed for a capacity of up to 400 liters, the 84 is designed for up to 250 liters.
Originally, I went with the 94 because I thought it would certainly be cold enough. Which is very likely true. But with the current situation I’m beginning to wonder if I should try and get the smaller version instead and combine it with a VD15. Does anyone of you have thoughts on this?
My goal is to have a cold fridge. And cold to me means not just cooler than the surrounding air but actually cold, as in maybe 6 to 10 degrees Celsius at the bottom.
