B38 cruiser linear drive installation
« on: April 27 2022, 06:40 »
Hi!
Does anybody photos of the frame the linear drive is installed on?
I removed old wheel pilot and are about to install EV-200.

I'm interested to see pics from boats with open transom. Bavarias 2008->.

On my 2014 Cruiser 37, the twin wheels are bolted to a transverse frame which supports the sheaves, etc.  The linear drive is also mounted on this frame.  Difficult to photograph but I'll attach the Jefa drawings of the system.

As far as i know bavaria doesn't fit linear drives for steering as standard. Usually there are different drive motor units(rotatory) which are directly integrated in the steering system. Mounting is straight forward. I wouldn't fit a linear drive as the addition of a custom made pedestal is far more complicated than the standard system. An ev-200 system should be compatible with the standard units. Price should be about the same as the linear drive units. Worth to give SVB a call to ask which steering system is standard for your boat.
