New Sails
« on: December 16 2021, 23:13 »
When removing my sails for the winter I concluded they are rather like me -old, tired and a bit baggy  ;D

I have spoken with both Kemp and Crusader, who both seem good  but wondered if anyone has any recent experience of buying new sails from either company.

Boat is a 1999 Bavaria 36 with slab main

Slightly biased as I know both well as I live in Poole. Not much to choose between them on quality and price although Crusader do have a bit of a reputation for missing delivery dates. However I always use Kemps because I was one of his very first customers and have always had good service. The furling cruising chute for my Bav 33 is excellent and this year I had a new furling main made using Vectran and it is superb. The current premium for Vectran rather than standard dacron is less than it has ben in the past and well worth considering Good time to buy with winter discounts and expectations that prices will rise next year as material cost catches up with inflation.
