Where can I buy the Bavaria Transom Actuators please ?
« on: February 17 2015, 18:17 »
Hi All,

Can someone please direct me to from where I can buy the electric actuator which operates the Bavaria Transom Door please.

I am interested in a supplier from where I can purchase the units (seen in attached picture) at a good price.

Thanks

Jezz

Again from the Dutch "BavariaZeilclub"forum: type:
Lifter 350 Synchron type Mega 2/350 BAV
 2000N 350 HUB
 IP66
Supplier:
 www.bokondi.com From Sillertshausen Germany

No experience myself. My BAV 38 - 3 doesn't have such a transom platform. One big problem. some use just one lifter and this seems to work better.

Hi Ger,

Thanks for the forum. Unfortunately it looks like the forum is in Dutch, so I cannot understand a word.

Hi Jezzb,

I got in contact with the manufacturer in Germany in 2013, not much use to me in Oz, but there you go. Details are
Fa. Bokondi
Anthony Boronczyk
Attenkirchener Str. 4
84072 Sillertshausen
Germany
Tel: 08752 / 810170
Fax: 08752 / 810169
At the time he quoted 240 euro (+VAT and shipping) for a replacement.
The guys at "Myyacht" in Sydney have one in stock too AU$500 follow the link
http://www.myyacht.com.au/7/on-line-store/322-Transom-Ram

Why do I know this? Well about two years ago (2013) the transom would not go down. Found that one ram was jamming and over loading the other and causing the whole lot to stop. Pushed it past the sticky bit and sprayed some WD40 into it. The full tool kit if it moves and shouldn't use gaffer tape, if it doesn't move and it should use the WD40! Fast forward to 2015 and it stopped again, this time with a funny smell. Not going to recover that one with WD40. The smoke that makes electrical things work had escaped!
With a small budget for repairs, and a natural bias against mixing electrical equipment and salt water decided to buy a handful of pulleys and some spectra. for about AU$300 replaced the rams with a 7:1 pulley system that will last for ever.
As a consequence of all that just realised that I have a used spare ram too! If you are interested
Cheers

Hi Mirror45184,

Thank you for the information.

I would have been interested in your second hand unit, but I would suppose the the postage and duty will cost a lot. I am located in Malta :)

Best Regards
Jezz

Hi Jezz,
Yes Malta is a long way to send a second hand drive. Good luck with the other unit. I will be posting some photos of the pulley mod.
Cheers

Jezzb,
Photos of the pulley system fairly straight forward. Note that I used thimbles in the Dynema strop to prevent chafe on the door mounts. Good luck with your chosen path.

Hi Mark,

Thank you so much for going out of your way to take and post your pictures here. I must congratulate you on the neat and smart configuration. I have decided to buy another lifter and hopefully this will hold for some time. If it fails again, I will definitely go for your option.

Do you or anyone on this forum know what the DV20 boxes made by Bokondi are used for? You connect the lifter to this box. I am attaching a picture to this post.

All the best and thanks once again.

Jezzb,

The box is the evil piece that controls the synchronising of the two struts. It also looks at the current draw (motor torque) to work out if it has reached the end of stroke. Which is the reason when I had one that was a bit sticky I could push it through the tight bit. So you do need the box. In fact I believe that it actually requires both struts to be wired to it before it will function.

Hi Mark, would you mind sending me the list of parts used for your solution? I would like to copy it. Same problem here on my Bav40.

Thanks.
