This is for all of the sailors who like me have difficulty accessing the lockers around the dinning area, just getting into some is a Houdini trick, so I have altered Odysseus.
I wanted something easy to do, low cost, and would fulfil the requirment completely.
1 separate the table top from the base, its screwed in 4 places, and the glue it tuff stuff to cut through with a flat plate vibrator tool. After the completion of one side you can rock the other side to part cleanly.
2 clean up all glue and sand off the damaged areas of glued locations.
3 with the new wood or other material, ( mine is a piece of shower walling because its smooth) screw and fix to top of table base.
4 the slide retaining fittings are then placed on upside down table centrally, tight but still allowing easy movement. Screw into place. I spayed furniture polish on my table and new material stand.
5 screw in position a small stainless bolt to retain table when at sea or not in use.
