Bavaria 38 Holiday battery shunt
« on: July 01 2022, 11:15 »
Hi,

Does anybody know where the battery shunt would be located on a 38 Holiday year 2000.

Fitting solar controller, and needs to be on shunt to read correct voltage for charging.

Thanks

Trevor

There should be no factory-installed shunt an a Bavaria of this age.

But any previous owner may have installed something - you just need to follow both negative and positive leads from leisure battery until you either find the shunt or can confirm that there is none.

Battery shunt has to be on negative side of battery, close to battery, before any charging or load spot.

I put my direct on negative pole on battery,

No, that's the windlass relay.

Thanks, not good with practical things lol.

Might not be a shunt, but having attached mppt controller to battery bank, it shows different voltage to panel gauge, which I have checked with hand held meter and is reading correctly.

A shunt would not be fitted as standard and is usually fitted immediately after the -ve terminal on the house battery bank. Most common reason for fitting one is when adding a battery monitor so all the current flows in and out of the bank are measured. Of you google battery shunts you will find an explanation as to how they work and products that are available.
