Help with Spares. That can save you money!
« on: September 29 2020, 12:16 »
Good Day fellow Bavaria owners. We have not been on the site for a while.......

We are currently sitting in Licata marina (Sicily) for the winter. Yngmar is just a few boats away from us. It's been great to finally meet up. There has been a lot of Bavaria talk and there will probably be a lot more.  :)

We wanted to share with you guys that we we have a new feature to our website. You could save a fortune!!!!!!

Simply log on to our web site and hit the downloads tab. https://www.svimpavidus.com/

Volvo Penta parts list alternative suppliers. (Sorry its in £ stirling at the moment).

We have compiled a list of alternative parts suppliers including the part numbers and links to the places you can buy them. These parts are either original manufactures parts or the same part with a different label or packing. They are not cheap pattern parts! The suppliers are businesses that we have used over the years and have had no issues with. Obviously, before you order any part you should always check the part number and satisfy yourself that this is the right part for you.

Many of these parts are interchangeable across a number of engines so the part may not just fit one engine.
If you save yourself a few £, $, €, then we are happy! But please remember to credit us, like, share and reference our videos/website.
As always we want to make knowledge free!

Website https://www.svimpavidus.com/

Here is the exciting interactive bit......

Finally, we ask that if you find a cheaper supplier and your happy with the quality, then you add the details to the spreadsheet and send it to us so that we can upload it for everyone's benefit. We intend to widen the information to cover other parts, equipment and fixtures or fittings in the future with your help.

Send it to: impavidussailing@gmail.com

Thank you. Sail Safe Guys, Ant, Cid & the pooch crew.

After watching your waterlock replacement video I purchased my Vetus waterlock from this German website

https://www.12seemeilen.de/

64 Euros with delivery to the UK.

They don't stock everything, but they do have some good deals. Another bargain we had from them was a 20kg Kobra anchor delivered to the UK for 199 Euros.

That’s a really good price for a Vetus waterlock replacement, and more or less matches the price I paid for a nondescript plastic silencer I purchased a few years back from a UK chandler who otherwise charges over £100 for a Vetus.

Couple bits for the MD22L-B:

Oil filter - Volvo 3517857 is often found cheaply on eBay, as it also fits several Volvo cars, right now I can find it as low as €5. The last ones I bought for around €8 each and as far as I can tell they're originals, with the Volvo print on them and they do have the pressure relief valve. Example listing: https://www.ebay.it/itm/FILTRO-OLIO-ORIG-VOLVO-COD-3517857-3-SOFIMA-S-3257-R-PER-DAF-LADA-VOLVO/322626415312 - these are €20 from the Volvo Penta (=marine engine) dealer for the same part number :)

Other compatible OEM (not Volvo) filters:

 * Crosland 2131
 * Fram FFR-PH2861 £4.25
 * Baldwin B7152 £4.25
 * UFI 24.351.00 (€2.81 eBay.it)
 * ?Osculati 17.501.06 €7
 * **NOT** UFI 2324600 (from parts4engines - wrong size thread)

As the Volvo original ones are so cheap, there's not much sense in buying replacements.

Engine fuel filters:
 * Volvo 21624740 €30
 * UFI 2435100 €5
 * [Fleetguard FF5442](http://www.inlinefilters.co.uk/Filters-Fuel/SpinOn/M16x1.5/FIN-FF30780) £8.60
 * Fram P8043
 * ?Osculati 17.502.05 (no drain) or 17.638.01 (drain) ~€10

The UFI ones are good quality and would recommend them. Even have a drain on the bottom. They go for €5 here in Italy. Buy in bulk to save on shipping fees or walk to the local car workshop.

Raw water pump: Volvo 3582510 (older model: 3580946)
This is really a Jabsco 29540-1001 (https://www.jabscoshop.com/spare-parts/default.aspx?code=29540-1001). Original parts available under that link for much less than Volvo prices.

Saildrive seals are common sizes too, but it's hard to find the combination of the right rubber _with_ the stainless spring, so I just buy them from parts4engines usually. You can call up seals specialist vendors and talk them into swapping springs though, but it's just too much fuss and they're not that pricey.
