And there goes the ignition key………

Time to replace my grimy old motor panel. And with a bit of 3D magic I managed to design a new panel, getting rid of the ignition key that I found sooo annoying. Leaving the key in the ignition meant that it sometimes fell out and almost washed overboard. Putting the key in the pocket meant no one else could start the boat, should you go overboard….
At least, a switch is as reliable as a wood burning stove.
Getting so much positive feedback from this, I decided to fire up the 3D printer, empty a bottle of red wine and finished off a small production of the panel if anyone else is interested (

Impressive.
I plan on purchasing a 3d printer (Corona delayed the timetable), so maybe I will dismantle my old Volvo panel, which is now 16 years old and deteriorating, and draw the 3d model so that it is ready by the time I get the printer.

Indeed, looks awesome. What filament is used? UV resistant?

Thanks
Yes, the filament is ASA, which is an improved ABS that makes the plastic more colour resistant to UV lights. In other words, designed to outdoor use

mojoraven,
What is your setup for printing ASA - specifically What matrial of the bed and do you have an enclosed chamber for the printer with temperature control?
