Tightening Window bolts (for safety)
« on: July 23 2020, 21:00 »

Bavaria 32 - Lewmar windows.

I have one window that when opened fully drops down.   This is dangerous for it sticks out and a crew member could easily accidentally walk into it.

I brought my torque set down last time I was at the boat to tighten it but not one of the fittings fitted the head of the bolts.

Can anyone assist me in finding a tool to do this please?

Confused, all my B32 ports are hinged at the top and open inwards so worst case they would drop closed

I am concerned that someone could walk into it when in the saloon.   It is only a little loose and stops halfway; therefore sticking out and dangerous.

Hi,

I just thighten those screws as well for same reason on my boat.

It was inner / internal hexagonal / hexagon socket screw. (In German Imbus) see link

Cannot remember size though.

Hope that helps.

Are you sure they are not socket headed screws. They are on my Lewmar hatches - with nuts on the other end that sit in a recess so are captive. 3mm from memory when I tightened mine a  couple of days ago, but will check later today.
