Cabin light fixture - bavaria 38 CC 2000
« on: April 18 2013, 00:44 »
Does anyone know a source for a replacement of a cabin light fixture for a 38 CC Ocean 2000?

Or the name of the manufacturer?

Thanks in advance!

Claus

Going by the brand name on the rocker switch, they were made in Italy.
However, with a similar aged yacht, I found it wiser to remove the lot and replace with large led arrays. The common fault with the original lights was breakage of the rocker switch axle... as well as the electricity consuming halogen bulbs.

Anthony,

Can you recommend a specific replacement fixture (that willmfit in the cut-out in the fiberglass ceiling panel?).

Thanks,

Claus

The lights are German - forget the name, but I had no luck buying them direct. You can however order them as spares from a Bavaria dealer. Clipper Marine keep them in stock (or did when I last wanted some). Have not found a sensible LED replacement that is not hideously expensive. Most of the reasonably priced ones are not switched.

My ceiling panels are vinyl and sponge covered plywood sheets secured between fibreglass frames.
It was easy to remove the previous lights and screw in led lights each of which had a built in switch. The one over the nav desk is an led with both white and red lights for night work. They are relatively cheap here in Australia and made in China.
i can take some photos for you.

Anthony,

Thanks, but I was able to find a small replacement rocker switch that fits perfectly in the fixture. Also found some inexpensive warm yellow LED lmps that can replace the halogen light... So I am all set.

Thanks!

I've just replaced all the orginal light fittings with Lalizas ones at ?19 a pop.  They are slightly larger than the original fittings but still smaller than the rounded areas on the headlining.  They came with festoon bulbs but I've replaced those with LED arrays of Ebay at £2 a time.  The original ones were corroded and the switches kept failing, although I managed to source new switches,  I got brassed off with the constant failures.  The new ones have larger switches which seem much more robust.
