Fridge modifications on 40 Cruiser 2008
« on: May 16 2020, 16:04 »
For fridge tuning I move in 3 direction: insulation by foam  of all space around fridge box , installation of an electronic thermostat, lower the compressor box heat by top panel insulation, opening 4 round hole in the compressor door and installing 2 p.c.fan, one in fresh air, one out hot air, under thermost at 30°.
After 48 hours test, at 26° Celsius air temperature, with thermostat setted between 7° and 4°, I obtained  16 minutes compressor running every hour. Fridge contained 16X1,5 litres water bottles. I am satisfied. Can I know your tests result about the matter?
I also bought manometers to  verify gas pressure at stop and running compressor.

Nice work. Like your idea with the brown plastic furniture plugs - will copy that!

Ours was insulated via PU injection, but it seems they missed some areas or the foam didn't expand as expected (I found much of it under the fridge as the gaps weren't taped off well), so I need to redo the part on the bulkhead where the salon seating meets it. Have been wondering how to do this without leaving ugly marks on the bulkhead - your furniture plugs are a good solution I think (they'd be hidden behind the cushion).

Before foaming, I close the gap between vtr and wood by the blu foam tube, cut at measure, you see  in the picture.

Also top of the fridge is not insulated. By 9 holes foam was introducted  in the top and also in the door. In the door I put also 600 gr of lead to better compress the lip. Also gas pressure was checked an modyfied and setted at 0,85 bar when engin is running
