Hi Jon, today we took the first measurements on the ship. Over the winter we will try to build a mount for the GRF 10.

So now we were back on the ship and have adapted the first idea for a attachment. We have discussed different versions. It would be nice, you will find a attachment that can be attached directly to the control system, we did not succeed. The attachment consists of two square aluminum profiles (70x80x4 and 80x80x5). One of them is being edited. They fit directly into each other. Since we need to adjust the angle of the rudder, we need an adjustment in order to make a fine adjustment.

Whether this is really necessary we do not know. On the pictures you can see the shoring on the ship. The compensation, so that the attachment initially sits horizontally across the ship. If everything works, it will be completely glued with laminate. Due to the adjustment, the alignment in boat longitudinal direction is not crucial, can be adjusted as I said. The water connection is still difficult, we will close it. (Google Translator)

SofiaB (Stuart) in the coming weekends i am going to build the mounting platform for the GRF10,  I was noticing how you did yours, do you have have any better photo of the mounting area ( how it was put together) and any other cool modifications in this locker?

Hi gang,
I have one question regarding the pot replacement. Do I centre the pot (revolutions) when I install it? ie: in the centre of it's travel not turned one way or the other? The installed factory pot is good for 10,000 turns, I bought an upgraded one that is good for 1,000,000 turns, should last longer.

Thanks, Doug

My Nav company we use, suggested to also go with the Garmin GRF 10 instead of replacing the POTS, they installed that yesterday.  We tried a couple of POTS and they failed too.  During that time they said to start from one side or the other.  It worked for a while, Good luck.

Yes, centered and installed with the rudder also centered - needs to be able to move both ways!
