Air Conditioning my Bav 44
« on: April 15 2020, 13:06 »
I am in the planning stage of installing air conditioning in my Bav 44 (three cabin model).  I would be very interested in hearing from those of you that have A/C.  In particular, where did you place the equipment and run ducts; how many BTUs did you install, and any pictures would be great.  My main objective is to cool the forward and main cabins.  The two aft cabins may need a separate unit.

I have a few ideas, but this is my first boat A/C unit and would like your expertise and opinions.

Thanks,

Jake

amikeren,

Thanks for the pictures.  That's about the location I was thinking of using for the forward unit.  16,000 btus sounds like a lot.  I was thinking more like 12,000, but I haven't done any of the calculations yet.  It would seem easy to put a small outlet in the head as well, since the ducting runs right through it.  I've got a few months to ponder this before I haul later this year to tackle the installation.

Many thanks for you time and trouble.

Cheers,

Jake
