Fuel Gauge reading full all the time
« on: February 07 2020, 15:52 »
Hi all, launched the boat in December with a full fuel tank. Gauge was working fine last season.

After a couple of passages and a refill of about 1/3 of a tank the fuel gauge is stuck on "full" reading.

I assume it will be the sender unit? Is it a physical float? Anyone had any experience with a fix?

Its not such a big deal because I always log engine/genset hours anyway and have a lot of data gathered from the last 5 seasons about typical hourly diesel usage but would like to fix it if possible.

Vision 46 2014 model.

Thanks
Ian

Hi Abby. Thanks. The terminal actually on the gauge itself or at the tank ?

Check connections at the gauge itself and at the sender on the tank top.  We had problems which turned out to be dirty connectors at the sender end.  Didn’t do more than disconnect the sender, clean contacts and reconnect it.  Sorted.  That said we mainly use logged hours run to judge when we need fuel.

hi. on mine it was on the gauge. its the end on the worst enviroment. just cleaned the connections with fine sandpaper and tightened the terminals a bit with a pair of pliers.
