Garmin NMEA2000 problems
« on: November 02 2019, 16:00 »
Hello, my Garmin NMEA2000 network is causing problems. Not all devices are detected on the network. Devices with their own power supply, such as the radar, are detected. The wind indicator and the GPS are not. The "yellow cable" power supply on the Garmin network is connected and powered.
I have rebuilt the power supply of the Garmin network, apparently something is missing.

Does anyone know about Garmin NMEA200?

Thanks Ralph

Sounds like a problem with power on the bus, so measure if there is power arriving at the devices that aren't detected. See here for pinouts (Garmin uses standard devicenet connectors): https://www.maretron.com/support/knowledgebase/phpkbv7/article.php?id=443

While you're at it, check both ends of the bus are terminated (and not three ends or something). And reseat all connectors, might be a faulty one somewhere. Good luck :)

Now comes the resolution:
The note with the power supply was correct, thanks for that. With a new terminator, we have gradually tested the system, the last cable at the top of the anemometer in the mast is defective. The plug seems to create a short circuit due to corrosion. Now we have to replace this at the top of the mast. So far the outer plugs are completely welded, so now we have to use a new screwable one.
