Battery Alarm when engine start...

Hi all... I'm going to need your help again!..

When I start the engine (Volvo md2030, BAV36 2002) the battery alarm lights and buzzes as hell until I move throttle ahead (disengaged) as soon as it gets revs, the alarm stops... Do you know what`s going on?

Just the alternator not waking up until you get a bit of revs on. Might be worth getting the alternator checked out particularly if it is the original nearly 20 years old.

Probably the engine idle speed set marginally too low.

My MD2020D from 2002 also does the same unless when I start it in neutral I keep the neutral button depressed and just move the throttle slightly to get a few more revs. Then the battery charging alarm doesn’t sound at all. Personally I prefer to hear the alarm so that I know it’s working, then I move the throttle while retaining the prop disengaged for a few moments before returning to its idle speed and the alarm then remains silent.
