2004 Bavaria 36 fuel tank extractor line gasket
« on: June 18 2019, 20:09 »
When the diesel tank is full, the 2 spare / blanked fuel extractor lines are leaking slightly around their rubber gaskets. I have tried to find replacement gaskets but can't find a supplier. SVB are out of stock. Anyone got any ideas?

Can you cut some from sheet rubber?

I used this material:
http://eclecticproducts.com/seal-all.html
Waited for fuel level to drop, took out the seals, put some of the material on the circumference of the hole and put the seals back, spread a bit more around the seals.

In a recent discussion when I suggested this material (I think the discussion was related to water tanks) someone pointed out that according to specs the material does not adhere to HDPE, however when I looked for a solution I got a specific mail reply from the manufacturer that it will hold, and indeed it does the work (several years till now)

A smear of RTV on both sides should do it.

Hi Lyra,

The sealant only needs to adhere to one side and then fill in the gaps to the other face. It will seal as long as you are not relying on the paste to glue the surfaces together. In some instances the ability to split the joint is an advantage!

Many thanks everyone. Will get hold of the sealant and give it a try.

I’m having the same issue. 2003 36
What are the lines for.?

One side I pulled up and reset it seems ok now the other side let fuel gush out. So I could not reset.
Can I use the sealent just on top?

You can buy these grommets from a UK supplier, I have a bag of them on the boat, they are a proprietary items. As I remember they cost £18 for 20.

But sorry I am at home in UK at moment so cannot give details, but will as soon as I go to boat.

I take it these are the ones.
