Volvo d1-30 belt changed - very high tension
« on: April 25 2019, 22:05 »
Hi, i just changed the belt for the First Time, bought the Original Volvo part. It was very hard to get the new belt mounted due to high tension. I Even demounted the tensioning screw to get the alternator closest to the engine but still the only way was putting the belt on the alternator and waterpump and then turn the engine with a wrench to „force“ the belt on the engine pulley. In my opinion it‘s much too tight now - and there is a chance of having damaged the belt by the bent of the pulley. Anyone else had similar experience ?? Are there different belts or different alternators ?
Bye
Jens

Have you compared the new belt with the original one you removed to see if they are the same size. There should be plenty of slack to fit and tension the new belt  :) - if there isn't it is the wrong size
