Hi to all!
On my BV44 2003 , VOLVO MD55 , since I installed P/V panels the alternator is now resting a lot . I can tell cause the engine battery that provides power only to the starter, is not charging regularly when motor is on . I have a Victron diode mount after the alternator . After some higher RPM in the engine it wakes up . So far is ok . The problem is that when I want to use the windlass to lift the anchor (always with engine on!) the alternator is sleeping so the batteries carry this heavy load alone ... I do a trick , before I lift the anchor I press the power button off and on again of the engine control panel and the alternator wakes up ( I feel it from the slight drop of the RPM ). Can I make a switch so I can use it as I want ?
