how are they measuring it?

mine is standard nothing hanging off the back the only thing on the front is the pulpit rail, anchor is stowed away...

they came back with 9.9m and are asking me to confirm.

the certificate and handbook for the mould is 9.32m with 9.47 LOA so even at that my rail does not stick out half a meter! does the LOA include the pulpit? im confused...

Why not measure it yourself? The marina's interest is to have the biggest number possible, so they're prone to erring upwards only. It should be approximately the length stated on the specs, unless modified or you have a protruding anchor (which you can always put away while in the marina).

Nothing unusual to get those discrepancies. The marina is measuring between perpendiculars so will include any bits sticking out of the back such as bits of the swim ladder and the extreme forward point of the pulpit. Ask to be there when they measure it. There are no "rules" other than their own!

When we went through this exercise in our club marina just about every boat differed from its published size (both length and beam).

When measured up like this with a tape, my 49 came out at 52'6".

Largs, who have never knowingly undermeasured anyone, had my 30 pegged at 9.5m.  If I were you I'd ask for a remeasure, but take the anchor off beforehand. And anything on the back rail such as an outboard.

measured it at 9.42m including the Pulpit etc. Anchor is stowed away, no swim-ladders (they're folded away) outboard is on the rail yes.. but it is above the transom on the inside of the hull area so does not stick out regardless.

so 9.42 from very rear of boat to very front of pulpit rail

done with a laser measure - now over to the marina

must be a fisherman measuring it....

Bavarias are known to build boats longer than nominal length.
Our Bav 34 is actually 35 ft 6.
Recently they are doing the reverse
