Winter cover / in water
« on: October 17 2018, 04:37 »
Beginning a search for canvas. The rain season begins soon. Perhaps, should inquire in poll, by best results, anyone have found a manufacturer they might care to pass a reference?
Thanks

Sunbrella seems to be the 'go to' product in the US.

What kind of a cover are you after, how extensive do you want it to be, just the binnacle, the whole cockpit area?
If it has to be measured up first, then go to a reasonably local supplier unless either you can provide those measurements yourself and you don’t need their charges being inflated excessively with travel costs, or one where your supplier from some distance away has the measurements for the cover you want on file and can produce it from records they have kept from previous work. So perhaps the question you need answered is “Who is the main supplier of canvas work for Bavaria boats in your Washington/British Columbia area?”

Not difficult to make is tonneau  cover attached to sprayhood.

My Bav 38 took 6mts x  150cm wide and a  2mt zip.

Sew 2 x 3mt lengths together then measure from centre line on boat to attachment points per half mt length to get taper.

Sew zip to sprayhood and other half to new cover, attach your fixings .

Material in uk from Kayo Spruce, look them up.

Job done.

Mine on this boat is 5 years old and is fine.

Hope this helps.

I leave the cockpit enclosure up all winter. Done that now for about 8 years.  Each year when boat comes out in Feb or March I send enclosure off to be cleaned.
