Replacement ceiling lights (LED)
« on: August 14 2015, 19:59 »
I've bought two of these Dream Lighting 12V LED panels to try them out: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00ODVEWPG/

Today I put them on the ceiling panels of my 40 Ocean, replacing the old chrome framed halogen bulbs. These are slightly bigger (127mm diameter instead of 100mm) and much slimmer. Which is great, because my height is such that i can stand in the aft cabin, but kept flinching when the skin on top of my head touched the hot metal of the halogen lamp. The new ones are very bright (in a warm white) and get barely warm to the touch. Very pleased and might replace the other 6 (main cabin and v-berth) with them as well.

Very nice, and if you use the link below it earns a little towards the forum costs.

I've now replaced all 8 ceiling lights with the 5''White Shell with Switch, Warm White Lighting version. Still very pleased! Amps down, brightness up (at least twice as bright as the 10W halogen bulbs).

These are flush mount and require no holes other than the existing one that passes the cable through and 3 to 6 hidden screws (I've used 3 as they weight almost nothing). The white bezel clips on to cover the screws.

Dream Lighting is actually an Australian company, so you should definitely be able to find them there: http://www.dreamlighting.com.au/

My original 2006 light fittings are starting to fail so need replacing.

I’ve got them on my B36(2002), and I’ve had them there for about three years or slightly more, and they are excellent. No problems at all with them since installation, and appreciative comments from occasional visitors.

All still working well and generally happy with them, although on a few the white bezel has cracked where the button is - it was too thin there. Bit annoying.
