replacing engine relays and using non VP
« on: July 31 2018, 19:34 »
n advised to replace the relays on my TMD22-P existing not VP branded but French origin and rated at 40 amps VP agent quoted replacement which was only 30 amps another quoted different part number which is 50 amp rated. How easy is it to find a non vp branded relay  that would work?

Relays are relays, nothing special about them. As long as the ones you're considering are the correct current rating, they should be fine regardless of brand.

If you're in the UK blue-max just use Google to find 'CPC Farnell'.
Their website is extensive and very cheap, You'll find your relay there at a fraction of the VP price. ( plus a colossal range of any other electronic components that you can think of).

Thanks  - looked up CPC. Lots of stuff but after filtering only 3   12 volt 4 pin relays listed. I've found an obsolete Lucas part no  but no way to find equivalents (like oil filters!)

thanks  - now have a selection of brands making the equivalent part -  a big saving over the VP part
