Portlight Sizes
« on: June 12 2018, 15:40 »
Hi, A question for Bav 39 (2004 ish) owners.  Does anyone know if the port light windows in the saloon are a direct replacement for those in the V berth?   Is there a good reason why the V berth portlights are not openable.  If they are not a direct swap, would I be able to source an openable window for the V berth & where from?

                Many Thanks.

I have a similar arrangement on my B35E (openable in the saloon and fixed in the V berth).
I have noticed that the leeward portlight is getting almost at sea level and splashed by the waves when sailing upwind strongly heeled (or pounding on steep waves).

Perhaps the designers have opted for fixed ones to reduce risks of leakage (or danger if left inadvertently open while at sea).

Escapade, I agree with you & was beginning to come to the same conclusion.
