hi All

the other day while siiting in the saloon i decided that i needed a blind for the companion way on Po-go.
so got the brain matter workind and decided to make a blind that can clip on and off on press studs and also tried to incorporate the bavaria logo. here is a pic of it. maybe we should go into business making these.

have a great weekend

Abby

Hi Abby,
I've been thinking along exactly the same lines myself for some time now, but was going to use Velcro to secure the blind in place. For the time being I've just used a rectangle of cloth which jammed between the hatch and the door and only covered the door. I like your Bavaria logo design.

hi.

i first thought of using velcro but decided it was going to be a eye sore. the press studs were cheap and easy to fit.

Now that's cool, did you fasten it to the plexiglass or to the size of the companion way?
Some places you can only reach by sea,

One of the best mods on our boat.

We have if fastened at the front of the hatch with the same things that are used with the sprayhood and we have a round window in the center to let in some light  :kewl

Ours is like a curtain: When not needed, we just llift it up and let it stay on top of the hatch as it is slides in. During the warm summer nights the plexiglass door stays off the companion way all the time and when the plexiglass door is in place the curtain sits again on top of the hatch.

Love it.

I have put this on before but added more this time.
I have had a screen on the companionway for years it works great and tucks up under hatch as you slide it open. You can see it in open position.

Second I have now 2 shade covers on bungee over bow and midships hatches, these keep the sun off the inside when hatch is open also if it rains no water comes in.

Simple to make but very effective.

Hope this helps.

On the subject of blinds..... nice work by everyone. Here is our idea.....

We used to live in Japan where the privacy screen/curtain is very common. Called a "Noren" in Japanese.

We bought a few of these and they hang on a simple cane so very easy to put across your companionway and remove for entry. No snaps or drilling required. Easy to make too. Just make a curtain with a seam at the top you can slide a cane or dowel through.

You can close the hatch or even the doors/washboards too.
