Gas Strut for Saloon lifting seat Bavaria 44
« on: January 02 2018, 15:33 »
I want to fit a gas strut or pair of struts to lift the two-seater fixed chair immediately opposite the cooker in my B44.

Anyone know the weight of this seat? I did not have the wit to weigh the seat and  now I'm in Scotland and  B44 in Greece?

I'm guessing at about 6 kilos but anyone with a better guess or an owner with a spring balance?

Happy New Year

Hi Stew
I did this mod on my B38.
I didn't weigh the seat (just took a guess) and fitted a single gas strut from a Fiat Panda tailgate.
Worked out fine - just had to experiment a litte with the angle of operation.

This is my fitting you will be able to see the angles you need to achieve, I used a golf Bonnet gas strut, however there are lots of companies on the web who show you how to achieve the lift which is about 2\ 2.5 kilos.

I also put struts on my fridge and chart table

Hope this helps
