Anyone on board can measure something?
« on: April 06 2019, 14:35 »
I'm super sorry to ask this, but along with my other post, have realised I need another dimension, I'm going to place either a handrail or stainless tube and bracket across the forward part of the companionway and need to know the centres of the teak rail that the handrails are mounted to. (Bav 36 2002, although I suspect most boats of the era will be identical).

Not my yacht in the image, but shows the bit I need to go across at the end of the handrail.

Fantastic!!!

Just checking that that’s the centre to centre across the companionway?
I want to put a rail straight across and am trying to find how much bar to buy 😃

OK, now I'm not sure which '....teak rail that the handrails are mounted to' you are referring to. I have attached a photograph of my companionway. Dimension 'A' is the teak rail attached to the sliding companionway cover. Dimension 'B' is the centre line distance between the stainless hand rails on either side. These handrail assemblies are not attached to a 'teak rail' - they are screwed into the GRP

Dimension 'A' = 680mm x 32mm x shaped (max  58mm)
Dimension 'B' = 780mm

nb:
The fixing screws for the steel handrail assemblies are at 765mm
The fixing screws for the steel slide bars supporting the compainway cover are at 635mm

Hope this is useful

THANK YOU!!!

Thats absolutely perfect, this gives me the size of bar that i need to be bigger than (and then cut down) - I can't thank you enough for this.

I can now see the teak fixings mentioned in the request from Sitesurfer - different to the 2006 B37 which has stainless steel fittings ;) but see that the dimensions are the same  :)

You guys are awesome. I got the right sized bar and fittings and it all went in beautifully.  Crew very happy with the head units in the right place now.
