Electric Water Heater

My Electric Water Heater is not working. Could be the thermostat or the element, but I plan to replace both. I've found a picture of what I thought was the top of the immersion heater:



However, it seems that this is in fact the thermostat, see here, it is a Thermowatt RTS3.

I'm confused, because the thing that looks like this and screws into the large socket in my hot water cylinder at home is the heating element, it just has a thin plug-in thermostat.

Does anyone have any info on what I need to replace the heater and thermostat? Or perhaps some info on the hot water cylinder? Boat is a Bavaria 47, built in 2000.

Hi Nigel most likely and 99.9 it is the element which is gone and and hardware store will have one. Locally they cost around 7 euros. What happens the element tends to rust and explodes and shorts the 220v shore supply breaker. If you do not find one pm me.

N.B. The link you showed is the thermostat that slides into the element and plugs into the element though 2 sliders.

I'm still looking at options for a new heating element. I'm considering getting a lower wattage one, so I can use my 1kW generator. I have a vague memory that the old element was only 800W, but I'd like to know the size of the hot water cylinder before deciding.

Does anyone know what size of cylinder was fitted to a Bavaria 47 in 2000?

I've now got a picture of the base of the heating element, unfortunately some of the numbers are obscured:



It is made by Reco, so I contacted them with this picture.

I got a very unhelpful reply from Riccardo Oitana <commerciale@recogroup.it>: "The price for 1 pcs is 200,00 euro. Transport at your charge... If all condition are accepted from you, I can help you." This outrageous charge is clearly designed to get rid of me, how unprofessional.

So it looks like getting help from Reco may be a dead-end. Does anyone know what part this element is, or what make and size of cylinder was fitted to a Bavaria 47 in 2000?
