How to remove pump impeller VP TMD22P
« on: August 24 2016, 13:20 »
Before I ruin the impeller with screwdrivers etc I just wonder if there is an easy way to get the impeller out. The pump is typically located in an awkward position on the engine. Taking the cover plate off is fiddly enough - using screw bits and a spanner. And of course the VP tool is too long to be applied. I wonder  if someone has devised an easy way to get it out - perhaps a small bearing puller  with a ring in the centre for leverage?

I was told to spray some silicon lubricant onto the open impeller and casing, touch the 'start' button to make it move briefly, then use long-nose pliers. Works well  ;)
