rudder bearing lubrication
« on: April 07 2016, 18:52 »
When the boat came put of the water, there was some play in the rudder and I thought to replace the bearings but, as the boat yard has a ground surface of pristine concrete this would involve a lot of hoisting. Now after some years there is no longer any play in the rudder, the wheel is stiffer to turn than before. I have lubricated the steering cables - no change - so wonder if I should grease the rudder bearings and if so how? Or will sea water after launching provide a lubricant?
