Well, I doubt you would get much luck with a 4 year old car that was out of warranty. You might get a goodwill payment, but that is not a legal obligation to pay.

I agree that it is not satisfactory, but you would have to show that there was a latent defect from new to force them to replace the valve. Difficult to do on such a cheap basic component where the cost and hassle of "proving" it far outweigh any replacement cost.
