Replacement Upholstery Fabric
« on: October 13 2015, 09:23 »
I have a blue corded velour-type fabric in our Bav. 44 2002 and wondered if anyone has ever managed to source OEM material of the same type? I have seen the identical material in many other Bavarias of differing sizes so it was obviously a  very popular choice.

The fabric we have has lasted wonderfully but is now looking a bit faded.

All suggestions valued. Thanks
Stewart

Hi i have the same on a B42 2000 model.  The material was sun damaged and dirty.   I was suggested to try DYLON and the results are tremendous.  The boat looks like new.  It did take all day dying two cushion covers  at a time but was well worth it total cost £35.  The dye does not damage or stain the washing machine and does not come off on your wet clothes .  It is a slightly darker blue but looks brilliant.  I was well please and £1000 better off.

Brilliant idea! I've used Dylon dye for clothing before with excellent results, but never thought of using it for this. I assume you used the jeans blue Wash & Dye?

Hi again  I used DYLON OCEAN BLUE #26  FABRIC DYE not the jean wash.  I have only completed the saloon, but so pleased will do the rest of the cushions this year.  You need loads and loads of salt to add.  Two saloon cushions at a time works best, otherwise you may get creases showing.  Best results are "small but many"  Only one dye wash was needed.

The new formulations of Dylon Machine Dye no longer need salt, but note the following:

Q: What fabrics can I dye?
A: Cotton, linen and viscose will dye to the full shade shown on the pack. Mixtures of these with polyester will result in lighter shades.
Polyester, nylon and other synthetics cannot be dyed...

Dear tckearney,

I have a Bavaria 40 C - 2008
I am in need of same, however I can't imaging well the result with my internal cushions.
Can you please share some photos?

Mine are double colored thus I think it won't be suitable for me.

Thank you very much.

Thanks for the photos. I have the same fabric and mine look about as worn as yours did before, so I shall give this a try.

Done. Worked very well, although when they came out they looked a bit purple. Luckily that was only until they were dry. Pretty pleased with the results. I have the original Bavaria flyer for the Ocean yachts somewhere, can't find it at the moment, but I seem to recall this being about the colour they had when new.

Photo below shows before (seat cushion on top) and after (bed). The bed looked exactly like the seat cushion before.
