Helmsmans seat, Bavaria 38
« on: February 18 2012, 16:23 »
I have a Bavaria 38 2004 model, and while sailing last year down the coast of Spain and Portugal my helmsman seat fell overboard and duly sank.  I'm wondering if anyone out there knows where I can find a replacement, I am living in the Republic of Ireland and to date have been unable to find a replacement.

I would appreciate any help on this matter.

You can still get them through Bavaria or agents, they are in the order of £400.

I know it's too late but one of my modifications was to put a line on mine.

Try clipper marine   uk agents Hamble southampton  strangely enough all the opening  fibreglass hatches  anchor lockers  and seats and fibreglass add ons are made in poland and not germany,  just go through dealer directory i am sure any of those would help

I know it's too late but one of my modifications was to put a line on mine.

The centre seat on my B47 is hinged, and it got smashed up badly. Bavaria no longer make it, so I had to strip is out to repair it. Inside it was filled with foam, which was completely waterlogged due to a previous crack. Bottom line: make sure your hole with the line through it is well sealed.

I, too, need to replace a missing helmsman's seat for a Bav 42. It is common, apparently, for them to get lost overboard.

I did trace one but £400 ? They have got to be joking.

I'll make up a wooden one somehow.
