Fridge update
« on: March 04 2020, 18:48 »
hi

As my wife cannot reach the bottom of our top loading fridge on our Bavaria 38 to get me cold beers, i was forced to replace it for a front loading fridge.
i looked at various options and ended up buying a Dometic crx80.
the reason we choose this fridge was that its a three way fridge. you can run it either as a fridge, or a freezer or fridge freezer combo.
would have liked to get the crx 110 but there was no space.
this fridges uses the same compressor as the old one (bd 35 danfoss)
making  the opening for it was a challenge. i used a multi tool and created a lot of dust.
have seen on few forums people asking on how to remove the front panel, the answer is simple. you cant without major damage(surgery)
its held by plastic corner blocks screwed from the inside.
also the insulation on the original fridge is quite good. it has a inner liner, 30mm expanding foam, then a outer liner( Plastic)and then 50 mm expanding foam  up to the cupboard walls.
on a plus note the new freeze only draws a 1 amp/hour.
if any one needs fotos , i will post.
oh, and the wife can now reach the beers.

regards

Abby

Abby,
I tantk you in advance for all image you can post. On my 40 2008-2010 I would increase the insulation.
