Yacht Insurance
« on: August 01 2019, 18:45 »
Looking for a recommendation for Yacht Insurance in UK. My current company Yachtline, who have in the past have been excellent cannot give me a quote as their new security cover does not wish to insure anyone who has made a claim in the last 5 years. My claim was for underwater damage to the prop (it fell off) with a claim cost of £1200. So any recommendations would be very welcome.

Try Denovo in Lymington.
They do rates for Bav owners.
We have used them for six years

Sounds like a terrible insurer? Happy with Pantaenius UK, but haven't made any claims yet.

I have used Y yacht brokers for many years now.  They have a very good reputation.

I’ve used Groves, John and Westrup, based in Liverpool, and found them very helpful.

Another recommendation for Y Yacht Insurance. Arguably the best policy on the market competitive price and excellent service.

Be aware that Yacht insurance has changed dramatically in the last year following several years of losses so many insurers are either pulling out, being more selective, restricting cover, imposing restrictions and above all increasing premiums. After 8 years of almost static premiums mine went up by nearly 25% this year despite over 30 years of no claims!

I'm also with GJW in Liverpool. Very happy with them, and although I had to make a substantial claim with them last year my premium only went up marginally and I retained my no claims bonus. Easy company to deal with and no problems on paying out the claim.

I would also recommend GJW. Had the same experience as Laysula last year with claim (£6K) but very small increase in premium and retained no claims discount.  When consequential damage was found they appointed a surveyor and approved additional cost within a week.

Yep, another one for GJW, recommended by a sailing buddy (30yrs) and who is an insurance broker.
