Do I have the correct diameter Selden Bowsprit?
« on: March 02 2020, 20:36 »
Kemp have just made a gennaker for my 2006 Bav 30 (RolleX system Selden GX 10), and supplied a 72mm pole kit .

I was just looking at posts on this forum and it seems larger dia poles, have been used by others.  For example on a Bav 32 http://bavariayacht.org/forum/index.php?topic=1142.0

I provided all the boat details and measurements to Kemp, but am now wondering if I have been supplied with a pole of insufficient diameter.

The guidance they provided is that max unsupported length is 820mm, but looking more closely at the Selden data sheet and boat displacement I'm now wondering if I should have had a larger diameter.

Any thoughts?

That's plenty big enough.
