Bavaria32 - buying advice please
« on: September 24 2016, 12:12 »
Hi - newbie member of the forum.

My father and I are in the market for a family cruiser and the B32 seems to tick lots of boxes. We're looking at a 2005 deep fin model. Saildrive seals were changed last year. Just wondering what, if anything, we should be looking out for. Any known issues?

It's in the water at the moment but we'll have it hauled  for a survey, if we device to proceed.

Thanks

Njc

Nothing specific that would not be picked up on a survey. Hopefully it will have had new sails as the originals are not very good. The original cooker is not too good, although if it has had light use it should be OK. If it does not have an electric windlass and you want one, it is not an easy retrofit as the locker does not have the plinth to mount it installed if the windlass was not factory fit. Wheel autopilots are often fitted to this size boat and are not the best bit of kit. At this age you are into rigging replacement territory. The bilges should be bone dry. Fresh water leaks can be difficult to trace, although that is not specific to these boats.

Once you have had an initial inspection come back with any specific questions.
